Stylish Halloween Costumes Inspired By Style Icons

Halloween is one of my favorite holidays of the year which also happens to fall during my favorite season. Everyone is super creative in dressing up, all things spooky are shared, and candy is on sale in bulk… that’s the best part, right? The festivities are right around the corner, and if you are planning on going to a party that suggests or requires wearing a costume, time is running out to come up with a detailed, intricate outfit. Forget about your go-to kitty-cat or witch; this time, take inspiration out of one of our favorite style icons in some of their most memorable fashion moments in history. Here’s my list of four stylish Halloween looks that you can put together in an instant, ranging from Marilyn Monroe to Audrey Hepburn.

One of my favorite time periods is the sixties, and Twiggy was known for her mod, bright, quirky outfits. Shift dresses, bold colors and silver platforms are the inspiration behind this Halloween look. To step it up even further, look for a checkered dress and retro round shades for a swingin’ sixties vibe.

Audrey Hepburn has always been a huge style (and general) icon of mine; she’s classy, sophisticated, and knows what she wants. The film “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” is a classic and features Hepburn in the iconic little black dress, elbow-length gloves, oversized cat-eye sunglasses, pearls and a tiara to top it off. This Halloween, show off our inner Hepburn in this elegant look.

Another leading lady, Marilyn Monroe made an iconic fashion moment in the film, “The Seven Year Itch”. In the romantic comedy, Monroe donned a flowing, white cocktail dress, posing on top of a subway grate as the wind blew up to show off her legs. This Halloween, channel the original Blonde Bombshell in a white halter, blonde wig, red lipstick and high heels.
Known for her work in the silent film era as well as dance, Louise Brook embodied the flapper look with bold metallics, silver and gold embellishments, drop-waist silhouettes, and feathers. Get the look by wearing a fringed or sequined dress with embellished shoes and either a feathered or crystal headband.
What are you dressing up as for Halloween? I can’t wait to see everyone’s creativity come out!
