When it comes to my skin and care, the two just never seem to match up perfectly. I have struggled with sensitive, blemish-prone skin for as long as I can remember (I was just oh-so-blessed with my first blemish spot when I was only 11, ugh!). While I have yet to find my holy-grail products, there are a handful I’ve been using lately that I can happily say have been treating my skin quite nicely! Read on to find out more and let me know what your must-have skincare products are!
Thayer’s Cucumber Witch Hazel Toner
With sensitive skin oftentimes comes redness, and that is unfortunately another one of my daily battles! I have tried an endless amount of products and treatments to help reduce this problem, and while some have helped to tone it down, the redness still leaves me looking flushed. This toner is an excellent fix for this! I love that it contains aloe vera to cool my skin, cucumber to freshen, and witch hazel to tighten up my pores. Now I can stay cool as a cucumber, whatever the weather and time of year!
Earth Science Almond Aloe Moisturizer
Don’t even get me started on moisturizers… I have literally tried dozens upon dozens and have yet to find one that I’ve fallen completely in love with. However, I have been using this natural one by Earth Science for about 6 months now and it hasn’t done anything negative to my skin so there’s that! It’s lightweight and non-greasy, providing enough hydration to last me throughout the day, and feels great underneath makeup or on its own.
Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water
My good friend and fellow blogger Lindsey told me about the magical properties of Micellar Water, so I knew I had to give it a try! I’ve always have a difficult time removing my eyeliner and mascara at the end of the day (probably because of my heavy cat eye and million coats of mascara), but with micellar water, I no longer have to worry about rubbing my eyes and face over and over. For eyes, I apply some on a Yes to Cucumbers cleansing wipe to really dig in there; while for my face, I simply put some on a cotton pad and wipe away and makeup, dirt, and extra grime.
As I was on the hunt for something to help treat scarring from blemishes, I learned about Bio-Oil from beauty vlogger Gina Shkeda who has such beautiful, youthful-looking skin. I’ve only been using the product for a couple of months, and while I haven’t noticed a huge difference just yet, I can definitely tell that my skin feels softer and appears fresher. I know products like these can take some time to see great results, so I’ll have an update on it soon!
The Body Shop Vitamin E Face Mist
This is the only face mist I have ever tried up until last week, so I may change my mind, depending on how well the newer one I’m trying out works (looking at the Mineral Water Spray by Evian)! For the past few years though, this Vitamin E Face Mist that smells like a light rose water really knows how to hydrate my skin in drier months, as well as set my makeup (only slightly though, it’s mostly used as a nice refresher throughout the day!)
Liz Earle Eyebright Soothing Eye Lotion
I received a sample of this soothing eye lotion in a Birchbox last year, and I must say it’s proven to be quite an incredible and very useful product, especially for those with sensitive eyes like I have. Not really a lotion but rather a liquid, the cooling sensation has a blend of calming and depuffing ingredients like witch hazel, cornflower, and aloe vera, that refresh tired eyes while sweeping away any residue. I oftentimes wake up with oily lids (yuck, I know!) and especially puffy eyes all around, so this is really a miracle worker and must-have in my daily skincare routine.
Balance Me Wonder Eye Cream
I typically alternate between eye creams depending on my needs, but this is an excellent all-purpose option. It helps lift sagging skin, brighten under eye circles, and smooth away fine lines. The best part? It contains all natural ingredients like virgin coconut, rosehip, carrot oil, chamomile, cucumber, and witch hazel. Yes. Please.
100% Pure Tea Tree Oil
Ever since I first tried tea tree oil in high school, I’ve been hooked. It is such an incredibly useful product to help treat scarring, redness, large blemishes, cuts… you name it! One teeny-tiny drop of this overnight and I wake up already seeing its magic!
