Birchbox June 2016

Another month, another Birchbox filled with beauty goodies! This time around, I was most excited about Benefit‘s newly updated Gimme Brow!

What is it? Laura Geller New York Baked Gelato Swirl Illuminator in Gilded Honey

What Does it Do? An illuminator/highlighter applied to cheeks, forehead, nose, and anywhere you want a beautiful lit glow.

Thoughts? I’m a huge sucker for pretty packaging, including how the actual product looks. The gold swirls on this highlighter almost made me not want to use it because it’s just that pretty… almost. I already have a holy-grail highlighter (lookin’ at you Champagne Pop), so I ended up using this as an eyeshadow and I’m in LOVE. It applies very smoothly and is pretty pigmented. I love the fact that it’s shimmery, but not shiny, and is buildable enough to go from day-to-night.

What is it? Ardency Inn Modster Smooth Ride Supercharged Eyeliner in Black

What Does it Do? The creamy, oil-based formula glides easily onto the eyelids, providing a bold, pigmented finish that is durable and long-lasting.

Thoughts? I use to only use pencils, until I discovered the magical wonders of liquid and felt-tip liners. However, I was pleasantly surprised by this one! It glides on very smoothly, is super pigmented (I’m always on the hunt for the blackest of black liners), and lasts a pretty long time! I even took a quick shower earlier today and accidentally splashed my face with water (was only intending on a body shower, ugh), and my cat eye remained bold and present! Supercharged for sure.

What is it? Benefit Gimme Brow Volumizing Fiber Gel

What Does it Do? Benefit’s newest line of brow products make even the lightest brows appear full and defined. The volumizing microfibers and water-resistant gel in the gimme brow stick to the skin and hair, creating a bold, full brow. This is also thanks to marshmallow extract and vitaming b5.

Thoughts? I’m obsessed. That is all. But no, really, I have always loved the old formula, and was SO excited to try the newly updated one. The packaging is gorgeous, the formula truly is newer and better, and my brows have never looked better. Nuff said.

What is it? Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray

What Does it Do? The multitasking spray is the perfect combination of dry shampoo and texturizer. The unique formula soaks up any oils in your hair, while providing oomph and texture

Thoughts? My friend has been using this product for a few months, and her hair always looks incredible and full of volume, even after days without washing. I wasn’t ready to test out a new dry shampoo as the one I’ve been using has been treating my hair pretty well, so I was super excited to receive this as a sample in this month’s Birchbox! The formula is non-greasy and non-powdery, unlike a lot of dry shampoos I’ve tried, and really does provide extra volume while sucking up and oils in my hair. Plus, I like the effortless texture it provides my hair – perfect for days where I don’t feel like styling at all… which, let’s be real, can be most days.

What is it? Evologie Blemish Serum

What Does it Do? This serum is truly an all-in-one, eliminating trapped bacteria, oil and, dirt, reducing inflammation and redness, tackling scars and hyperpigmentation, and, of course, fighting blemishes.

Thoughts? I feel like I’ve tried every single blemish-banishing, zit-zapping product out there, and haven’t found one that is my tried-and-true just yet. I honestly haven’t used this product enough to measure out its benefits, but so far, it hasn’t done any harm to my skin, which can definitely happen with anything that claims to eliminate my blemishes!

I can’t wait to see what’s in next month’s Birchbox! I’ve been a subscriber for years now and have only been disappointed a couple of times. At $10/month, you really can’t go wrong – there are so many products I ended up buying and still use today. Sign up now if you aren’t a subscriber already!
