New York Fashion Week S/S ’14: ZAC Zac Posen

It’s our favorite time of year – Happy New York Fashion Week! Stay updated with the latest from the runway here on Panache Offblast. I’ll be posting my favorite collections here on the blog and the more from the runway on my Tumblr – subscribe to both!

Let’s start with one of my favorite designers – Zac Posen. How can you not love Posen with his impeccably tailored designs, brilliant use of patterns and colors, and, let’s be straight, his honest critique on Project Runway? He’s an all-around brilliant individual and the debuted collection for his S/S 2014 show is nothing less.

This season, he designed a collection with prints based on his series of Asian textiles, focusing on classic American characteristics like swim and sportswear. This was especially showcased with the long, liquid-like gowns – the silhouette, superb tailoring and draping gave a water-like affect. It seems as if Posen has a simple, yet incredible, thought process – simple and sexy. The result of the collection has something for everyone: long-line seams in stretch, bright pigments for the siren; sheer, flutter-sleeved dresses in floral prints for the girly girl; and lightweight casual-like separates that could easily double as a suit for the luxe. A touch of python here, a gold lame cocktail dress there – the pieces are clearly for the confident, powerful, fearless woman. Posen knows what makes women look stunning: less embellishments and textures as long lines and sexy, sleek silhouettes do the talking for the body.
